Giveaway! 4 Tickets to Little House on the Prairie, the Musical!! ($100+ value)

A few days ago I shared about a new musical coming to the Fox Theater next week, Little House on the Prairie, the Musical.

I know the Little House series is popular among homeschoolers, just for pleasure reading or to use with curricula such as The Prairie Primer. For a fun field trip, the Detroit Public Library's Burton Historical Collection includes Laura Ingalls Wilder's manuscripts for The Long Winter and These Happy Golden Years. No matter how you incorporate it, Little House is such a great, wholesome series to use in your homeschool.

Homeschooling or not, most of us will remember watching the Little House on the Prairie TV series, which aired 1974 - 1982 and starred Mellisa Gilbert as Laura. I remember what a bully I thought Nellie when I watched the show as a little girl! It will be great fun to see Mellisa Gilbert play Ma in the musical!

For more information on the show:

www.OlympiaEntertainment.com

The Fox Theater Box Office or Ticketmaster 800-745-3000

I am very excited to get to attend the musical as a "Little House Ambassador". I wanted to share the fun and asked the Little House Musical folks if they would be interested in offering tickets as a giveaway for the homeschooling community and beyond. They happily agreed and are offering the following for one lucky winner:

4 tickets for opening night, Tuesday, Dec 1 @ 7:30 p.m. at the Fox Theater in Detroit, MI

The winner will be selected and contacted by the sponsors on Monday, Nov 30, 2009, who will be gathering the entries from this blog post. I will be notified of the winner so that I can announce it here as well. Tickets will need to be picked up at the box office 15 minutes before the show.

Because of the time sensitive nature of the tickets, the winner will be required to respond to claim their tickets by Monday, Nov 30th at 3 p.m., otherwise another winner will be selected. If you enter, please be sure to check your email and this blog regularly on Monday!

Now, how to enter:

Leave a comment on this post with one or more of the following:
  • your favorite Little House on the Prairie title
  • your favorite Little House on the Prairie character
  • your favorite scene from a Little House on the Prairie TV episode
Additional entries can be earned by:
  • Tweeting about this giveaway
  • following my blog publicly
  • posting about this giveaway on your blog (please include link)
Be sure to leave another comment for any of the additional entries!

That gives you a total of four opportunities to enter! You have until Monday, November 30 at 10 a.m. to enter. The winner will be selected randomly and notified by email, so make sure you have your email address clearly noted in your comment!

My favorite character would have to be Laura, but Pa would be a close second. He's hard working and does whatever needs to be done to take care of his family.

Too hard to choose a book or scene! As a child, I read and reread every book in the series. "Little House in the Big Woods" is probably my favorite book. I would still like to make maple sugar candy by pouring it into snow!

Boy, it's been so long. I know I read all the books as a kid, but now they are all jumbled up in my mind. I do think I liked Laura the best, though. I sure didn't like Nelly Olsen! LOL

Laura is my favorite. I seem to recall getting into a lot of the same scrapes she used to...it wasn't fun for me either:o)

I love Halfpint (a.k.a Laura) and Pa's relationship. It reminded me so much of my own dad and me.

I already follow the blog publically, do I get anothe entry for that?

Precocious little Laura is my favourite, of course! Thanks for the chance to win tickets - I'd love to gift them to one of my relatives living just across the bridge :)

I LOVE Little House books and shows! Another one of my favorite episodes is when Laura runs away after her baby brother died. She meets an angel in answer to her prayers for God taking her to heaven and bringing her brother back in her place. Love the message... stantondnj@aol.com

I always watched Little House on the Prairie on TV and reading the books when I was a little girl. I sure didn't like Nellie! Now my own little boy and girl are loving hearing the stories as well. They have adored hearing Little House in the Big Woods, and also Farmer Boy. My mother in law even sewed them "Little House on the Prairie" costumes, which they wear when visiting Greenfield Village or just to act out scenes (or whole days) at home. The best part is, they have names for everyone in the family from the show! They do get some quizzical looks when we're at G.V. and my son calls me "Ma" and Gracie "Laura"! My kids especially like hearing the "christmas scene" where they are trying to share a cookie between Mary, Laura, and Carrie.

My favorite was Ma...always so patient and positive...we just read the Childhood of Famous American book on Laura. I recommend it to anyone who loved all of the other books.

Laura is the main character, and I would have to say I love her the most, but Ma and Pa follow right behind. They were great examples of how parents should raise their children; loving, patient and gentle. Even when they were not perfect, as we all aren't at times, they were quick to apologize. Another great example for our children to learn...humility.

My mom, who has since passed away, LOVED the Little House series, so this brings back great memories for me. My favorite character was Mr. Edwards. He was funny, but most of all, he was a loyal friend to the Ingalls Family.

One of my favorite episodes is I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away.
My favorite character is Michael Landon. I have been a fan for many years even when he moved on to Highway to Heaven.
My favorite scene is when her boyfriend encourages her. Growing up with a family with many sicknesses it is nice to know that life does not stop but begins when there is a will and way.

Loved most of the episodes, but my favorite would have to be The Lord is My Shepherd. I cry everytime I watch it. Giving my daughters the series, either books or tv series (maybe both) for Christmas and January birthdays.

We own most all of the Little House DVD's. One of our favorite things to do on a rainy day is to have a Little House marathon.

Ma is my favorite character as I really relate to her as a mother. I only wish I had as much wisdom!

My favorite "Little House" episode is when the Ingalls' exchange Christmas gifts. Pa makes Laura a saddle for her pony but he doesn't know that Laura sold her pony to Nellie to buy Ma a stove. It is very touching....I'm crying just thinking about it.

My favorite character has always been Mary - I identified with her as the oldest and always admired her, especially for her courage after she became blind. My favorite book was "Little House in the Big Woods". My favorite episodes always contained Nellie learning that being mean and spiteful would get you in the end.

I grew up with Little House on the Prairie, and now my daughter loves it as much as I did. Our favorite character is Laura Ingalls. My daughter dressed up as Laura for a birthday party where guests were asked to dress up as their favorite literary character.
